He is RISEN!!
It is Easter Sunday & Jesus has risen from the dead!! What JOY!!! Thank you Jesus!!
This Easter was a different Easter than years past. We knew it was going to rain ALL day on Easter Sunday, so at the last minute, my aunt Ginny & all that family decided to change the egg hunt to Saturday. That was fine, no problem.....except Caraline threw up twice Saturday morning!! So Scott decided to stay home with Caraline & Lydia & I went to Pawnee on Saturday & stayed the night in Perry & went to church Sunday morning.
Saturday was such a fun day on Grandpa's farm!! Grandma & Grandpa had 5 little kitties...very small & Lydia LOVED picking them up & carrying them everywhere!! He also had two Jack Russell puppies who were so cute. Lydia liked them, but preferred the cats because she could easily pick them up!
We hunted eggs with Kylie, Keilee, Jaylee, Finlee, Kynzie & Lana. Lydia found the "golden egg". It had a dollar in it!
Later, we went to see the baby goats at Lindsay's.
Farm life is so fun when all you know is the "city life"! Lydia loved every minute!! I asked her what her favorite part of the day was...she said picking up the cats!!
Sunday morning, Easter, we woke up to rain....heavy at times, that it made the Easter Bunny late & he had to come while we were at church! My mom was not feeling good. She was going to teach the Pre-K class at church & Lydia & Lana were excited to go "help" her, but she was sick & called a friend to sub for her. She went back to sleep & didn't make it to church this year!
We ordered pizza for the "traditional" Easter lunch since mom was ill. She was still in bed when Lydia & I left at 3pm. Lydia did not like seeing her sick like that. It made Lydia sad! She wouldn't even look at Nana!
We came home to see how Caraline was feeling. She was feeling better & was excited about the stuffed horse the Easter Bunny gave her! We missed Caraline & Scott...it just wasn't the same!

Good Friday
Today is Good Friday. The day that Jesus died on the cross for our sins.
At our church, Henderson Hills Baptist Church, we have a Good Friday "service". It is a self guided tour of the last days and moments of Jesus life. This was the first year I got to go.
I met my friend Christie at church & we took turns going in the worship center while one of us watched the kids. What a blessing it was that she really wanted to go & so did I, but our husbands were busy with work so we helped each other out!
First you had to wash your hands before entering the worship center. The disciplines washed their hands before meeting with Jesus.
At the first station, you saw thirty pieces of silver. Judas was paid thirty pieces of silver to hand Jesus over. That is the price of a slave. It seemed odd to me that Jesus was "sold" as a slave, but we are the slaves, slaves to our sins, but Jesus paid to free us!
The second station was the garden when Jesus prayed that God save him, but if this was the only way, let it be God's will, not his. Jesus had always had an intimate relationship with God, but now, he had to walk this road, endure this pain & suffering completely alone! Jesus took the wrath of God so that I, as a believer, won't have to! AMAZING!
The third stop was the wooden cross. The wood of the cross is symbolic for a door frame that opens eternity to us.
The instruments of suffering was next. The mallet and spike which drove the nails into Jesus' hands & feet to the cross. The crown of thorns was thick & was probably pushed down firmly on his brow.
Station five was communion. Remembering as you ate the bread that it symbolizes his body that was broken for you & the wine that was his blood shed for you & covers you with grace.
The moment Jesus took his last breath, the curtain that separated the Holy of Holies was torn from the top to the bottom. That would have been in impossible for a human to tear it, especially from the top. Only the priest was allowed into the Holy of Holies...until now! Now that the curtain was torn, it showed that we have a direct access to a relationship with God!
The seventh station was the oil & spices. Jesus' followers brought a large quantity of spices to embalm Jesus' body, 75 pounds worth. That was a lavish display of love, deep affection & respect.
The final station was our cross. You were to write a sin that was holding you back from fully serving God. You wrote it on a black square of paper, took a nail, a hammer & nailed it to teh cross!! POWERFUL!! It was very quite in the worship center, but when you nailed that sin to the cross, everyone heard it!
It was emotional!
What a special experience!
What an amazing love Jesus & God have for sinners!! I'm so glad I belong to Him!

The Friday Five
Ok, I only know a few people who blog & a lot of people are WAY better at keeping it up to date or adding cute profile things. I saw a blog that had a "Wordless Wednesday" post & it was just a picture. I recently stumbled onto a blog that had a "Five on Friday" posting.
I liked those ideas, so I thought I would try to keep updated better.
My "The Friday Five" maybe 5 random things, or things we did that week or 5 things I'm thinking or concerned about.
1. Caraline slept in her bed ALL night on Sunday night...but hasn't since!
2. Lydia got "Charlotte's Web" (2006 version with Dakota Fanning) DVD that we LOVE!! She & I cry every time! She got it because she made her bed & got dressed every morning for 3 weeks WITHOUT crying!!
3. I'm thinking about homeschooling Lydia in another year or so. She will go to Peace Preschool for Pre-K. We love it there! I want her to have a "school experience" when it is still fun!
4. Caraline has figured out the stereo & can play her favorite CD & usually does when I'm on the phone! (& the volume is UP)
5. I'm going to get the girls dressed up in their Easter dresses, get some eggs & their baskets, take them to the park & take their pictures. BUT I've had trouble finding a WARM & CALM day!! We are about a week away from Easter! It snowed last weekend!! It's been in the 50's, high 60's & the wind has been 30 mph....that is NOT a lie! This Saturday is going to be in the high 70's. I hope I get some good ones.
OK, so that is my "The Friday Five" ...it was easier than I thought...I could have written a few more!:)
We are a week away from Good Friday. I will write about that next Friday.

Tori's having a.....
My sister Tori is pregnant. It was a bit of a SHOCK!! January 2, 2009, she told me that we was feeling sick & didn't want to eat, but that was the only thing that made her feel good. I told her to take a pregnancy test....she did, but she "thought" or read it wrong, that it was negative.
By January 6, she got into the dr because she couldn't figure out what was wrong with her! They did some blood work, but thought it may be acid reflux.
The next day she called me & said, "Well, I got my blood work back..." I thought, "Oh, are you diabetic or something?" And in the background, I hear Russ yell "BABY!!!"
"WHAT!?!?!?" I said. "But you took a test a few days ago & it was negative!!" Tori said she was in SO much shock that she heard nothing else the nurse said after "You're pregnant!"
She went in to see the dr & scheduled an ultrasound to determine how far along she was. She was already 8 weeks along!
Tori's due date is August 24th, 2009.
She found out on March 25th at 18 weeks, that she was having a GIRL!!! Mom & I screamed & laughed!!! We have ALL girls in our family!!
Now she & Russ must hash it out over girl names. They had a boy name all ready to go, Russell Keith Furgason the III, & call him Trey. But now that won't work!:)
She likes names & Russ says that they are too "hollywood" for his taste!

Real friends
Sometimes I don't even know why I try with some people.
Some people are just friends when they see you on a regular basis & then it's like "out of sight, out of mind". Some friends are friends with you rather they see you every week or once a year.
I guess I need to learn the difference. I always feel stupid when I try to carry on a friendship with someone who is "over me".
That is a lot of the reason some people think I'm "snob-ish". I will remember EVERY ONE but I won't act like it in fear that someone won't remember me or wouldn't care to get to know me better.
In order to have good friendships, you have to learn how to be a friend & that means thinking about someone other than yourself. Caring about someone else's feelings, marriage, kids, showing interest in them, not just what you can get from the friendship.
I hope I can teach my girls how to be a good friend by using Jesus as a model. Jesus was a friend to the "unlikeable", the tax collectors, the sick, the lepers. He showed them love & compassion & cared for them, even if they just came to him for what He could do for them, selfish reasons.
People and friendships are not prefect, but Jesus friendship is complete & eternal!
